We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working through complex insurance and claim issues. Responsibilities Submit and follow up on medical claims Review claim rejections and denials and correct issues promptly Work insurance aging and outstanding accounts receivable Verify claim status and communicate with insurance companies Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals Review EOBs/ERAs and identify payment discrepancies Assist with prior authorization and insurance-related issues as needed Maintain accurate documentation of all billing follow-up Help ensure claims are processed and paid correctly and timely Qualifications Previous medical billing experience required Strong understanding of CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, and insurance billing Experience working with Medicare and commercial insurance Experience with ophthalmology billing is strongly preferred Experience with surgical and/or ASC billing is a plus Comfortable researching denials and resolving complicated claims Excellent attention to detail and follow-through Strong communication and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and stay productive without constant supervision Experience with AdvancedMD, Waystar, or ophthalmology billing is a plus. Position Part-Time Medical Billing Specialist Approximately 20-25 hours per week Schedule may have some flexibility. We are looking for someone who does more than simply submit claims. The right candidate will take ownership of accounts, investigate problems, follow claims through to resolution, and recognize when an insurance company has processed a claim incorrectly.
