Job Description Medical coding, billing and insurance as part of a team of two other insurance/billing specialists and six providers Work in high volume medical coding and collections environment while ensuring standards excellence are met. Analyze, code, interpret and compile medical information/records to document patient condition and treatment Code, prepare and submit clean claims to insurance companies via electronic and paper submissions Post electronic and paper remits within 48 business hours of receipt Work all correspondence, including denials, within 48 business hours of receipt Work account receivable reports for insurance companies and patients Contact insurance companies and patients about aged accounts Print and send out monthly patient statements Applying ERA's and other payments received to patient accounts Communicate with physicians, leadership and team members of all regulations, policies and guideline changes in insurance Serve as a resource for the providers and administration to obtain information or clarification regarding accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements Perform other duties as delegated by management Maintain confidentiality in regards to patient account status and the financial affairs of the practice
Requirements:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to communicate well with people of all levels and backgrounds Familiar with computers, various office equipment and electronic medical records Excellent phone etiquette Detailed oriented Professional attitude and appearance Must be able to working during times of unusually high volume and unusual need of workload demand. Must be able to work Monday through Friday 7:50 am - 5:00 pm (40 hour work week minimum)
Working Conditions:
The work is majority of the time sedentary in nature Must possess mobility to work in a standard office/clinic setting and to use standard office/clinic equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, and communicate in person and over the telephone. Occasional exposure to difficult patients
