About Us Specialists in Dermatology, PLLC is a multi-facility dermatology group serving the Tucson area, offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology services. We're looking for a detail-oriented credentialing and billing professional to join our revenue cycle team and support our Mohs surgery, superficial radiation therapy (SRT), and dermatology service lines. Position Summary We're seeking a Medical biller and Credentialing Specialist with hands-on experience in provider credentialing and payer enrollment, along with dermatology-specific coding and billing knowledge — particularly Mohs micrographic surgery, SRT, and pathology/dermatopathology — plus strong A/R management and denials resolution skills. This role is critical to keeping our providers properly credentialed and enrolled with payers, and to ensuring accurate, timely reimbursement across our specialty services. Key Responsibilities Manage provider credentialing and payer enrollment, including CAQH maintenance, NPPES updates, individual payer applications, and re-credentialing timelines Track and maintain credentialing documentation, licensure, and payer enrollment status across all providers and facility locations Accurately code and bill for Mohs micrographic surgery, superficial radiation therapy (SRT), and dermatopathology/skin biopsy procedures using current CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding guidelines Manage accounts receivable (A/R) follow-up, identifying and resolving aging claims Investigate, appeal, and resolve claim denials and underpayments, tracking trends to prevent recurrence Verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for Mohs, SRT, and related dermatologic procedures Reconcile charges against pathology and surgical logs to ensure complete and accurate capture of billable services Collaborate with providers and clinical staff to clarify documentation and support coding and credentialing accuracy Maintain compliance with payer-specific credentialing and billing requirements and coding regulation changes Support front/back office billing functions as needed, including patient billing inquiries and payment posting Qualifications Demonstrated experience with provider credentialing and payer enrollment (CAQH, NPPES, payer portals) 2+ years of medical billing and coding experience, with direct experience in dermatology, Mohs surgery, SRT, and/or pathology coding strongly preferred Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent coding certification preferred Demonstrated experience with denials management and appeals processes Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems Familiarity with EHR/practice management systems (e.g., ModMed, NextGen, or similar) Strong understanding of insurance authorization and verification processes Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced medical office environment Preferred Prior credentialing experience in a dermatology or dermpath practice Experience working across multiple practice locations Familiarity with ASC or surgical billing in addition to office-based procedures
