Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of medical billing processes, coding systems, and healthcare claims management. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient revenue cycle operations while ensuring accurate and timely billing for our patients. Duties Prepare and submit accurate medical claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements and regulations. Review and verify patient information, insurance details, and medical records to facilitate correct billing procedures. Utilize CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), and ICD coding to accurately categorize diagnoses and procedures. Manage medical collections by following up on unpaid or denied claims, resolving discrepancies, and appealing claims when necessary. Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities within EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify billing information and ensure proper coding practices are followed. Stay current with health insurance policies, coding updates, and industry regulations to optimize reimbursement processes. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or healthcare claims management within a medical office setting. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and medical coding standards including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG systems. Proficiency in using billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting purposes. Familiarity with healthcare claims processing, health insurance policies, and patient account management. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. Prior experience in medical office environments with exposure to medical collection practices is highly desirable.
