Temp-to-Hire Overview Our client is seeking a detail-driven Project Billing Specialist to join their team near San Pedro. This role plays a critical part in managing billing activities for project-based work, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with contract terms. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working cross-functionally with operations and project leadership. Key Responsibilities Prepare and process detailed client invoices for project work, including both Time & Materials and fixed-fee engagements Assemble comprehensive billing documentation by gathering data such as labor hours, materials, subcontractor costs, and equipment usage Partner closely with Project Managers and operational teams to review draft invoices, confirm milestones, and address discrepancies Monitor project costs and billing schedules to ensure alignment with contractual agreements Support the transition from spreadsheet-based billing processes into an ERP system (NetSuite), helping improve workflows, reporting, and internal controls Assist with month-end close activities, including reconciliations related to billing and revenue Track down missing or incomplete information across multiple sources to ensure invoices are accurate and complete Generate custom reports and provide insights as needed What You Bring At least 3 years of experience in project-based billing or a similar accounting function Background in industries such as construction, engineering, professional services, or legal is highly preferred Hands-on experience with accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar platforms Strong Excel skills and ability to manage and analyze data from multiple sources Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and resolve billing issues Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through A proactive mindset with a focus on improving processes and preventing issues before they arise Education Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred Work Environment Fully on-site role near San Pedro, CA, requiring regular interaction with operations and project teams Collaborative, fast-paced environment with high visibility across departments This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a project-driven environment and wants to play a key role in strengthening billing operations and processes.
