Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Dental Billing & Insurance Coordinator to join our team! This role is part time (Tuesday and Thursdays, with potential for more in upcoming months). In this role, you will manage the entire billing and insurance claim process, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for dental services. Your expertise will help streamline operations, improve cash flow, and enhance patient satisfaction by providing clear communication and efficient resolution of insurance-related inquiries. Duties Review and verify patient insurance information Submit dental insurance claims accurately and promptly Review claims for completeness, including necessary X-rays, narratives, and supporting documentation Follow up on outstanding, unpaid, rejected, and denied insurance claims Review and process insurance EOBs Post insurance payments, adjustments, and PPO write-offs accurately to patient accounts Review aging reports and actively work outstanding insurance accounts receivable Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits when needed Understand deductibles, annual maximums, frequency limitations, waiting periods, downgrades, and other common dental insurance provisions Handle coordination of benefits for patients with primary and secondary insurance Submit and follow up on secondary insurance claims Research discrepancies between expected and actual insurance payments Correct and resubmit claims when necessary Contact insurance companies to resolve claim and payment issues Maintain accurate insurance information and fee schedules within the practice management system Review patient accounts for accuracy and identify outstanding balances Prepare and send patient statements Help determine accurate patient portions after insurance payments are received Skills Previous dental billing and/or dental insurance experience strongly preferred Strong understanding of dental PPO insurance and claims processing Experience reading dental EOBs and understanding insurance adjustments Familiarity with primary and secondary insurance / coordination of benefits Experience working dental insurance aging and outstanding claims Comfortable communicating directly with insurance companies Strong attention to detail and ability to identify account discrepancies Organized and able to independently follow accounts through resolution Comfortable learning and using dental practice management software Professional and compassionate communication with patients Reliable, proactive, and able to work collaboratively with a small dental team
Pay:
From $25.00 per hour Expected hours: 10.0 - 20.0 per week
