$28.00 to $30.00 per hour
Schedule:
15 to 18 hours per week
Work Arrangement:
In person, flexible schedule Reports to: Executive Director Position Summary The Bookkeeper/Grant Billing Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the day-to-day financial operations of Mariposa Center for Safety. This position will support bookkeeping, financial reporting, grant tracking and billing, payroll support, budgeting, and related compliance activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Director and other staff to support organizational accountability, fiscal transparency, and responsible stewardship of grant and donor funds. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and credit card reconciliations Prepare journal entries for prepaid expenses, deferred revenue, and payroll Process and pay invoices in accordance with established organizational procedures Record and deposit organizational revenue Complete annual 1099 reporting for applicable vendors Prepare monthly and grant-specific financial reports for review by the Executive Director and presentation to the Board of Directors, as appropriate Prepare grant reimbursement requests and tracking and documentation of grant-related billable expenses Prepare monthly and quarterly grant reimbursement requests and documentation of grant-related billable expenses. Coordinate with the Executive Director and external auditors in preparation for the annual audit and applicable federal and state nonprofit filings, including IRS Form 990 and Colorado charitable filings Coordinate with Executive Director to prepare annual budgeting and financial forecasting Follow established accounting procedures, policies, and internal controls and identify discrepancies or control concerns Maintain confidentiality and safeguard sensitive financial, payroll, donor, employee, grant, and organizational information Participate in staff meetings and other organizational activities as appropriate to the position Perform other related duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Associates degree or equivalent experience in accounting, bookkeeping, finance, or a related field Minimum of two (2) years of bookkeeping or accounting experience Strong QuickBooks skills, including general ledger management, standard accounting transactions, budgeting, and financial reporting Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel Experience participating in or supporting a financial audit Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills Ability to manage competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Experience with nonprofit multi-fund accounting, including tracking and reporting financial data for multiple grant funders Experience with federal or other government-funded grants Work Location and Schedule This is a part-time position of 15 to 18 hours per week in person with a flexible schedule.
Compensation and Benefits Pay:
$28 to $30.00 per hour, for 15 to 18 hours per week This is a part-time, non-exempt position and is not eligible for employer-sponsored health insurance or other employer-sponsored benefits offered to full-time employees. The position is eligible for applicable paid leave and other employment protections required by federal, state, and local law, including applicable Colorado paid leave. After one year of employment, the position is eligible to participate in the organization's 401(k) retirement plan, including an employer safe harbor non-elective contribution of 3% of eligible compensation, subject to the terms and eligibility requirements of the plan.
