Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our practice. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of insurance claims, and optimizing revenue cycle management. Your expertise will help streamline operations, improve cash flow, and enhance patient satisfaction by maintaining precise medical records and coding compliance. Responsibilities Prepare and submit clean insurance claims to private and government payers like Medicare and commercial insurance daily. Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate
CPT/HCPCS/ICD
codes according to current medical coding guidelines Verify patient insurance coverage, process health insurance claims, and follow up on unpaid or denied claims through third-party billing channels. Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring compliance with medical terminology standards and proper documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and treatment details. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure correct coding for services and procedures in accordance with medical coding guidelines. Manage the revenue cycle by tracking claim status, resolving billing discrepancies, and performing collections on overdue accounts related to medical collections. Utilize EMR/EHR systems effectively for electronic health record management related to billing, coding, and insurance claim processing and payment posting. Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations Experience Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of health insurance claim processing and revenue cycle management. Familiarity withICD-10, ICD-9, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical coding guidelines is essential. Prior experience working with billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems used in healthcare settings. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and insurance third-party billing procedures. Strong understanding of health insurance policies, health insurance knowledge, and the overall billing process within a healthcare environment. Experience in coding for services, procedures and treatment within the office, in-patient hospital and skilled nursing setting is highly desirable.
