The ideal candidate will possess at least 2+ years of experience navigating both physical healthcare and behavioral health billing structures to ensure accurate claim submissions and optimized reimbursements.

Key Responsibilities:

Code Translation:

Translate provider documentation into accurate alphanumeric codes using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II systems.

Mental Health Modifiers:

Apply specific modifiers unique to mental health services, time-based therapies, and complex medical evaluations.

Claim Submission:

Prepare, scrub, and submit electronic claims to commercial insurance payers, Medicare, and Medicaid.

Denials & Appeals:

Manage the full denials workflow, including reviewing rejections, drafting appeals, and resubmitting corrected claims.

Patient Support:

Answer questions regarding costs of care, insurance benefits, and explanations of benefits (EOBs) with clarity and empathy.

Compliance Auditing:

Perform routine internal audits of documentation to ensure strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and insurance guidelines.

Qualifications & Skills Experience:

2-3 years of dedicated medical billing and coding experience within a multi-specialty or mental health setting.

Certification:

Active credential required, such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Software Proficiency:

Strong hands-on experience utilizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and billing clearinghouses.

Communication:

Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare practitioners and resolve complex payer issues.
