THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION
•(In office M-F) Position Overview The Home Health Reimbursement Specialist is responsible for monitoring claim status, researching rejections and denials, actively managing payer collections, and documenting all account activities. This role requires a strong emphasis on the collections and accounts receivable follow-up side of the revenue cycle, working proactively with commercial payers, clearinghouses, and managed care plans to ensure timely cash flow and resolution of outstanding claims. Key Responsibilities Actively work aged accounts, claim rejections, denials, and returned claims across assigned payer portfolios. Conduct direct, professional follow-up via phone, payer portals, and clearinghouses to secure timely payment on outstanding balances. Analyze denial root causes, prepare and submit appeals, and execute necessary claim corrections or rebills. Accurately perform mathematical computations and audit patient account data to detect and correct billing discrepancies. Maintain clear, detailed, and consistent documentation of all payer communications, collection notes, and claim status changes within the billing system. Collaborate with internal clinical and intake teams to resolve documentation deficiencies impacting claim adjudication.
Required Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of current healthcare billing and collections experience, with direct, hands-on exposure to Commercial insurance payers .
Collections Focus:
Proven track record in denial resolution, clearinghouse navigation, and persistent payer follow-up via phone and online portals.
Technical Skills:
Strong PC proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word), billing/claims databases, and clearinghouse platforms; typing speed of at least 30 WPM.
Knowledge:
Familiarity with standard medical terminology, claim forms (UB-04 / CMS-1500), and insurance adjudication processes.
Core Competencies:
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, high attention to detail, and excellent verbal/written communication skills. Preferred Qualifications 1+ years of direct Home Health or Hospice billing and collections experience. Working knowledge of Medicare Part A, Medicaid, Managed Care, and private insurance collections. Experience utilizing WellSky (Kinnser) or Homecare Homebase (HCHB) EMR systems ( training provided for HCHB ).
Pay:
$24.81 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
