Job Description
Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity available on our team for an experienced Medical Billing Insurance A/R Specialist. The Insurance A/R Specialist is responsible for the timely follow-up and resolution of outstanding insurance balances while ensuring accurate billing, payer compliance, and account documentation. This position is responsible for insurance collections, account follow-up, claim resolution, payment review, denial management, and maintaining accurate patient and payer information within the practice management system.Essential Responsibilities:
Follow up on outstanding insurance balances listed on A/R and payer follow-up reports. Review and update patient demographics and insurance information as necessary for claim processing and payment resolution. Research denied, rejected, or unpaid claims and take appropriate corrective action. Generate correspondence to payers and patients including appeals, payment requests, and authorization requests. Document all account activity and communications within the patient account accurately and timely. Review credit balances and assist with refund request processing as needed. Maintain knowledge of insurance payer guidelines, billing regulations, and reimbursement policies. Work collaboratively with providers, billing staff, and management to resolve account issues. Attend in-services, seminars, webinars, and training opportunities for continued education and performance improvement. Maintain regular and reliable attendance.Education/Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance accounts receivable, medical billing, or healthcare revenue cycle preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology and managed care billing guidelines required. Experience with insurance follow-up, claim denials, appeals, and reimbursement processes preferred. Experience using electronic health record (EHR) and practice management systems preferred. Experience with NextGen preferred. Strong knowledge of Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) medical & payment policies.Other Qualifications:
The Insurance A/R Specialist must have excellent time management skills and be able to handle multiple simultaneous tasks effectively and efficiently while maintaining a professional and courteous manner. Must work well independently and as part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required. Candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism. Must demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.Benefits Offered:
