Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing nephrology practice. This position will be responsible for ensuring claims are accurately submitted, payments are properly posted, denials are addressed promptly, and outstanding accounts are followed through to resolution. The ideal candidate will have experience with medical billing, CPT/ICD-10 coding, charge reconciliation, and revenue cycle processes. Our hours are 8:30 am
  • 5:00 pm Monday
  • Thursday and 8:30 am
  • 2:00 pm on Fridays.
We are off on weekends and all major holidays. Following a 90 day review we offer a full benefit package including PTO, health, dental, and vision insurance, short term disability, and life insurance. 401k contributions begin after one year of employment. Responsibilities Review and submit accurate medical claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance companies. Verify patient insurance information and identify coverage or coordination-of-benefits issues. Review claims for billing, coding, modifier, and documentation errors. Work insurance claim rejections, denials, and unpaid claims. Submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals as appropriate. Review EOBs and ERAs to ensure payments and adjustments are posted correctly. Identify underpayments and discrepancies between expected and actual reimbursement. Follow up on outstanding insurance balances and aging A/R. Research and resolve claim issues involving eligibility, authorization, medical necessity, coding, and payer policies. Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and payment issues. Maintain accurate documentation of account activity and payer communications. Work closely with charge entry, coding, payment posting, and management staff. Identify recurring billing problems and communicate trends to management. Maintain compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, HIPAA, and commercial payer requirements. Meet established productivity, accuracy, and turnaround-time expectations. Preferred Experience Nephrology billing Dialysis and monthly capitation (MCP) billing Laboratory billing Interventional procedure billing Medicare and Medicaid Commercial insurance billing Denial management and appeals High-volume physician practice billing Qualifications 2+ years of medical billing experience preferred. Strong understanding of the medical revenue cycle. Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10, and modifiers. Experience interpreting EOBs and electronic remittance advice. Familiarity with electronic medical records and practice management systems. Strong computer and data-entry skills. Excellent attention to detail. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently while also functioning effectively as part of a team.
Pay:
From $17.00 per hour
