Description We are looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to support revenue cycle operations for a healthcare organization in Savannah, Georgia. This contract-to-permanent position is ideal for someone who can manage billing activities accurately, follow claims through the reimbursement process, and communicate effectively with payers and internal teams. The role requires strong knowledge of medical billing and coding practices, along with the ability to resolve account issues efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit medical claims accurately and in a timely manner to support consistent reimbursement.
- Review billing documentation and coding details to help ensure claims are complete and compliant before transmission.
- Monitor unpaid or denied claims, investigate the cause of delays, and take corrective action to improve collection outcomes.
- Work directly with insurance carriers and other payers to verify claim status, resolve discrepancies, and secure payment.
- Maintain detailed account records and update billing information within electronic systems, including EPACES as needed.
- Follow up on outstanding balances and coordinate collection efforts while providing clear communication with relevant parties.
- Collaborate with internal staff to address billing questions, correct account issues, and support smooth revenue cycle workflows. Requirements
- Experience in medical billing within a healthcare or related administrative setting.
- Working knowledge of medical coding principles and claim submission processes.
- Ability to handle collections activity and pursue resolution of outstanding accounts professionally.
- Familiarity with medical claims follow-up, denial review, and payment posting procedures.
- Experience using EPACES or similar billing and eligibility systems.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines accurately.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with payers and internal teams.
