Job Description

Billing Specialist (224366-14) One of Hawai'i's local companies that was voted Top Places to Work is seeking a Billing Specialist. The ideal candidate will have some experience with billings, collections, and office experience. Hours Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm Location Honolulu, Oahu Pay $22 to $24 an hour Responsibilities Administer COBRA services, including enrollment changes, eligibility updates, notifications, and refunds while following applicable regulations. Process premium payments, cash receipts, and account reconciliations for group and individual plans. Maintain accurate eligibility information across COBRA software and internal systems. Respond to billing, payment, enrollment, eligibility, and COBRA inquiries by phone and email. Follow up on overdue group premiums, document collection activity, and escalate accounts requiring management attention. Research and resolve billing, payment, contract, and eligibility discrepancies by coordinating with customers and internal teams. Provide billing and COBRA guidance to employer group administrators and assist with online service platforms. Process invoices, customer correspondence, incoming mail, and payment transactions while maintaining proper controls. Scan, organize, and maintain billing, COBRA, and individual plan records in accordance with retention procedures. Identify opportunities to improve department processes, efficiency, customer support, and system functionality. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Degree in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, business administration, or a related area preferred. At least two years of experience in billing, customer service, accounts receivable, collections, payment processing, cash handling, enrollment, or administrative support preferred. Healthcare, insurance, employee benefits, or COBRA experience is a plus. Ability to maintain confidential information and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows, and related computer applications.
