Duties Manage vision billing processes using specialized billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure accurate submission of healthcare claims. Review and code vision and medical procedures and diagnoses utilizing CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to facilitate proper reimbursement. Follow up on unpaid claims and coordinate with insurance companies to resolve discrepancies or denials, enhancing collection rates. Maintain detailed optometric records, including documentation of procedures, diagnoses, and patient information, adhering to confidentiality standards. Assist with administrative tasks such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, managing correspondence, and organizing optometric records. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries related to billing and insurance matters promptly and professionally. Support the office team with general clerical duties to ensure efficient daily operations within a busy optometric healthcare environment. Requirements Proven experience in optometric billing with familiarity in DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. Strong knowledge of healthcare claims management, health insurance processes, and medical/optometric terminology. Prior medical office experience is highly preferred; familiarity with medical records management is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in billing and administrative tasks. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, insurance providers, and team members while maintaining a positive attitude. Knowledge of optometric collection procedures and healthcare regulations will be advantageous.
