Utility Billing Clerk
Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Utility Billing Clerk to join our finance team. In this vital role, you will manage the billing processes for utility services, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing for customers. Your expertise in accounting systems, financial software, and customer service will help maintain seamless operations and foster positive client relationships. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to efficient utility management while utilizing your strong analytical and technical skills. Responsibilities Prepare, review, and send utility bills using billing software and accounting systems. Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable transactions to ensure accuracy in billing records. Manage collections accounts by following up on overdue payments and resolving billing discrepancies promptly. Enter data accurately into spreadsheets, financial software, and other databases, utilizing Excel formulas and data analysis techniques. Perform account analysis, journal entries, and account reconciliation to support financial reporting and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Communicate effectively with customers regarding billing inquiries via phone or written correspondence, maintaining professional etiquette at all times. Skills Strong proficiency in accounting software. Extensive experience with financial concepts including accounts receivable management, accounts payable, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping. Demonstrated ability in Excel data analysis, creating formulas, spreadsheets, and performing account analysis. Knowledge of public accounting standards and technical accounting practices relevant to utility billing operations. Excellent data entry skills with high accuracy (10 key typing), along with strong math skills for account reconciliation and analysis. Effective customer service skills with professional phone etiquette for client communication.
