Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Trucking Billing Specialist to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of freight billing, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in invoicing, and maintaining strong communication with clients and carriers. Your expertise will help streamline billing processes, support financial accuracy, and enhance client satisfaction. Responsibilities Prepare and process trucking invoices using various billing software and accounting systems such as Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms. Verify shipment details, rates, and charges against contracts and freight documents to ensure billing accuracy. Manage accounts receivable by following up on overdue payments and resolving billing discrepancies through effective client communication. Reconcile billing data with financial records, perform account analysis, and generate detailed spreadsheets for reporting purposes. Maintain meticulous records of all billing transactions, journal entries, and account adjustments in compliance. Collaborate with collections teams to manage collections accounts and ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances. Utilize Excel formulas and data entry skills for Excel data analysis, creating reports that support decision-making processes. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries related to billing issues promptly and professionally. Support accounts payable activities related to freight costs and vendor payments as needed. Assist in month-end closing procedures by preparing accurate account reconciliations and journal entries related to freight billing. Experience Proven experience in accounting or finance roles with a focus on billing or accounts receivable management within a transportation or logistics setting preferred. Strong understanding of accounting concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation. Experience working with public accounting standards or corporate accounting environments is advantageous. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis, spreadsheets creation, formulas application, and 10 key typing skills. Knowledge of collections account management practices and customer service principles related to financial transactions. Ability to analyze complex data sets using Excel formulas and spreadsheets for reporting purposes. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in data entry and recordkeeping. Strong communication skills with professional phone etiquette for client interactions.
