Job Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for submitting medical claims to insurance companies and ensuring timely reimbursement. The hours are Monday through Friday 9am to 1pm.

Duties:

• Review and verify accuracy of billing data and revise any errors
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies using multiple platforms including: Simple Practice, Availity, Blue Cross, etc.
• Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe
• Utilize medical coding to ensure compliance with federal regulations
• Process payments from insurance companies and patients
• Resolve billing issues and appeals with insurance companies
• Verify eligibility and benefits

Helpful Experience:

• Some experience working in medical billing or related field is desired
• Medical terminology, ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG coding systems
• Strong understanding of medical office procedures and insurance guidelines
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Familiar with Medicare and Medicaid requirements
• Credentialing experience or willing to learn

Nice-to-have Skills:

• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems
