Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detailed-oriented and experienced Medical Billing Specialist to join out family practice, which included obstetrics and urgent care services. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing and coding, insurance claim processing and revenue cycle management. Strong preference for bilingual Spanish speaking . Experience with CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS coding is preferred. Familiarity with Athena EHR is a plus, as our practice is currently transitioning to that platform. Athena does provide training and support. Responsibilities Prepare and submit insurance claims for family medicine , obstetrics, and urgent care services. Review encounters forms for coding accuracy if flagged by the EHR (CPT, ICD-10 modifiers). Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly. Post payments, adjustments, and manage patient accounts. Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve coding/documentation issues Maintain current knowledge of insurance billing guidelines, including Medicaid, Medicare and commercial plans Verify insurance coverage and benefits as needed Assist patients with billing questions and payment plans Monitor accounts receivable and support montly billing performance reports Ensure compliance with HIPPA and medical coding regulations
