Unger Eye Wellness is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Billing Specialist to join our growing team at both our Troy and Edwardsville, IL locations. The ideal candidate has experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, and insurance, with a strong understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle. This role is essential to maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely reimbursement, and providing outstanding service to both our patients and insurance partners. Salary Range:
$18-$23 an hour

RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage claims throughout the revenue cycle, from submission to payment.
Post insurance and patient payments accurately.
Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and resolve claim denials.
Review and audit patient accounts for billing accuracy.
Answer patient billing questions and explain insurance benefits.
Process electronic and paper claims.
Communicate professionally with insurance carriers, patients, and team members.
Maintain accurate records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
Collaborate with staff to resolve billing issues and improve workflows.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in medical billing, accounts receivable, or a healthcare office is preferred.
Knowledge of medical insurance, claims processing, and payment posting.
Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Professional communication and customer service skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities while working both independently and as part of a team.
Optometry or ophthalmology experience is a plus but not required.
