Job Description

Position Purpose:
The Billing Specialist is responsible for providing initial and follow-up billing for designated centers to ensure collection or processing of all service events reported to obtain reimbursement. Billing specialist is responsible for
ICD9/ICD10
coding techniques and current practices of the coding guidelines. In-patient and outpatient coding guidelines are to be practiced along with DRG assignment and review.
Essential Functions:
Ability to work well with others and organize workload for quick response times Ability to organize and use time wisely Ability to follow instructions with minimal supervision and ability to grasp new procedures quickly Ability to read and comprehend written policies, procedures, memos, emails, newsletters and other forms of communication Understanding of billing software, CMHC system, MD-Online, FTP Communications credentialing, coding, claim and contract requirements Pay is based on experience: $16.53 - $19.83

Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent, RHIT Certification and or Coding Certification Minimum 1 - 2 years in a healthcare organization with focus on billing & coding Ability to apply concepts such as averages, ratios, fractions, and percentages to practical situations Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical/medical/legal information. Ability to respond to routine inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively communicate with individuals and groups.
