Job Description

  • Provides accurate data entry of charges and demographics for multiple payer types.
  • Follows up on unpaid accounts and rejected insurance claims using Explanation of Benefits forms and reports.
  • Post payments on accounts from patient checks and credit card receipts.
  • Researches and responds to billing inquiries from patients and families .
  • Provides assistance to support staff in evaluating and resolving billing related issues or questions.
  • Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information.
  • Obtains revenue by recording and updating financial information; recording and collecting patient charges; controlling credit extended to patients; filing, collecting, and expediting third-party claims.
  • Follows-up on unpaid accounts and rejected insurance claims using Explanation of Benefits forms and reports via the Athena "manager hold" buckets.
  • Manages all billing correspondences and insurance carrier enrollment requests.
  • Uploads all remittance and zero-pay correspondences into billing software for processing.
  • Provides back-up support, on occasion, for front-end duties and responsibilities.
  • Exhibits a very positive, welcoming, friendly and supportive attitude to patients and colleagues in all interactions.
