Legal Billing Specialist Egan, Flanagan and Cohen, PC - 4.0 Springfield, MA Job Details Full-time $20 - $25 an hour 7 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Microsoft Excel Legal firm experience Team management Attention to detail Law office experience Full Job Description We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Billing Specialist to oversee and manage the Firm's monthly billing process from start to finish. This role is critical to ensuring billing deadlines are met, invoices are accurate, and attorneys remain on schedule throughout the billing cycle. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, able to prioritize competing deadlines, and confident managing up by holding team members accountable and driving the billing process to completion.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee the monthly billing process and ensure all billing deadlines are met. Send reminders to timekeepers to enter their time throughout the month. Follow up with delinquent timekeepers to ensure all prior month's time is entered by established deadlines. Generate and distribute pre-bills to attorneys for review. Track the status of all pre-bills, including those sent, returned, edited, and finalized. Follow up with attorneys and timekeepers to ensure pre-bill edits are completed promptly. Maintain accurate billing records and monitor the progress of the billing cycle. Assist the Controller with accounting and finance functions, including: Entering accounts payable (AP), deposits and providing additional financial and administrative support as needed Qualifications Previous billing experience, preferably in a professional services or law firm environment. Excellent follow-up and communication skills with the confidence to work effectively with attorneys and senior staff. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel; experience with legal billing and accounting software is a plus.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
