Medical billing Associate's degree Full Job Description We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Specialist. CPC not required, but coding knowledge is required. Ideal candidate has at least 2 years experience, preferably more. Evaluates financial responsibility of patients, updates accounts to billable/collectible status, research all possible means to resolve accounts, contacts patients, insurance companies and other departments regarding financial reimbursement. Organizes collection procedures in accordance with current laws, prioritizes, tasks with the main objective to reduce uncompensated care. Responsibilities Include A/R follow-up to collect outstanding balances from insurance companies and patients Works with payers to resolve issues and facilitate payment of unpaid claims Appeal denied claims Process daily paper claims, EOBs and charges Ensure accurate use of CPTs, ICD-10s and modifiers Identifies and accurately process corrections as directed Answer phone calls from patients and staff Additional duties as assigned Education and Experience High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associate's Degree + preferred 2 years of professional fee billing experience is required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of collection laws, medical coding (CPT & ICD-10) and 3rd party billing guidelines including timely filing limitations Proactive problem-solving skills Ability to interpret data and related information and discern trends, tendencies as well as determine appropriate course of action Ability to us PC applications such as outlook, spreadsheets and word processing Highly effective oral and written communication skills are necessary in order to communicate effectively with clinicians, patients and insurance companies Ability to perform mathematical calculations Ability to maintain a culture of excellent customer service, open and friendsly staff relations with associates of all levels
