Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Billing Specialist and play a vital role in ensuring accurate and efficient billing processes for our healthcare providers. In this energetic role, you will manage the entire billing cycle, from coding and claims submission to follow-up on unpaid accounts. Your expertise will help optimize revenue flow, improve patient satisfaction, and uphold the highest standards of medical billing accuracy. Responsibilities Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes in compliance with industry standards. Prepare and submit clean claims using advanced billing software and EMR/EHR systems, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, adjustments, and collections within healthcare claims management systems. Verify patient insurance coverage and explain health insurance policies to facilitate smooth claim processing. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation requirements and ensure proper coding for procedures and diagnoses. Stay current with updates in medical coding regulations, including ICD coding changes, to ensure compliance across all billing activities. Experience Proven experience in medical billing or medical office administration with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management. Familiarity with
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications along with experience using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Knowledge of health insurance policies, medical records management, and medical coding standards is highly desirable. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Prior experience working in a healthcare setting or medical office environment will be considered an asset. $35.00 - $55.00 per hour
