Behavioral Health Billing Specialist About the
Role:
Nulife is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing Specialist with with experience in the behavioral health field . This position plays a critical role in managing the entire billing lifecycle — from claim creation and posting through follow-up, denials, rejections, and appeals. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver who thrives on resolving complex billing issues, ensuring accurate reimbursement, and maintaining compliance with payer guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage the end-to-end billing process , including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, follow-up, and account reconciliation. Review and resolve claim denials and rejections , ensuring timely re-submission and resolution. Prepare, track, and submit appeals with appropriate supporting documentation. Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding claims to reduce days in A/R. Identify denial trends and collaborate with leadership to improve processes and reduce recurring issues. Ensure billing practices remain compliant with payer policies, coding regulations, and behavioral health-specific requirements. Communicate with clinical and administrative staff to resolve coding/documentation discrepancies impacting claims.
Qualifications:
2+ years of medical billing experience, specifically in behavioral health (required). Strong knowledge of the full revenue cycle , including charge entry, payment posting, claims submission, follow-up, denials, rejections, and appeals. Proficiency in CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and payer guidelines related to behavioral health services. Experience working with insurance portals and clearinghouses. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Why Join Us?
