Position We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing / Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Albuquerque team. This position is responsible for billing, claims follow-up, collections, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance payers . Primary Responsibilities Submit and follow up on medical claims Work outstanding Accounts Receivable (AR) and aging reports Investigate unpaid, underpaid, and delayed claims Resolve claim denials and submit appeals Verify Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance eligibility Review claims for accuracy and payer requirements Verify and correct HCPCS and ICD-10 information Post account charges and payments Follow up with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement Perform billing audits based on aging, payer, dollar amount, and non-payment issues Re-bill and correct claims as necessary Maintain accurate and detailed account notes Track prescriptions, CMNs, letters of medical necessity, authorizations, and other required documentation Identify and follow up on reauthorizations Handle patient collection calls professionally Communicate reimbursement issues and concerns to the AR Manager Maintain compliance with payer requirements and company policies
Qualifications Required:
Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance billing Familiarity with HCPCS and ICD-10 terminology Strong AR and claims follow-up skills Excellent organizational and communication skills Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively High school diploma or GED Basic computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and payer portals Ability to type at least 35
WPM Preferred:
At least 2 years of Medical Billing & Coding experience OR a Medical Billing & Coding educational certificate DME/HME billing experience Medicare billing experience Experience with denials, appeals, and aging AR Medical Billing & Coding certificate Ten-key proficiency Benefits for Full-Time Employees Medical insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Life insurance Wellness benefits 401(k) Generous paid time off (PTO) Pre-Employment Requirements Employment is contingent upon applicable pre-employment requirements, including background verification, drug screening, tuberculosis screening, and professional references.
