Dental Billing Consultant We are seeking an experienced Dental Billing Consultant to provide billing, insurance, and revenue-cycle support to dental and/or oral surgery practices. The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable in dental billing processes, insurance claims, collections, accounts receivable, and practice-management systems and can identify opportunities to improve financial performance. Key Responsibilities Review and evaluate current dental billing and collection processes. Submit and manage dental and medical insurance claims, when applicable. Review rejected and denied claims and oversee timely appeals and resubmissions. Monitor insurance aging and outstanding accounts receivable. Identify underpayments, missed claims, billing errors, and collection opportunities. Verify proper use of CDT codes and supporting documentation. Review patient balances and recommend effective collection procedures. Analyze insurance payment patterns, adjustments, and write-offs. Assist with insurance verification and coordination of benefits. Evaluate billing workflows and recommend improvements. Work with doctors, practice managers, and administrative teams to improve revenue-cycle performance. Develop billing procedures and help train team members on proper billing protocols. Provide regular reporting on A/R, collections, outstanding claims, denials, and other key billing metrics. Qualifications Minimum 3-5 years of dental billing and insurance experience preferred. Strong knowledge of dental insurance claims, CDT coding, EOBs, denials, appeals, and accounts receivable. Experience with dental practice-management software. Oral surgery, implant, and medical cross-coding experience is a strong plus. Ability to analyze reports and identify revenue-cycle problems. Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills. Ability to work independently and provide practical recommendations to practice leadership. Experience consulting with or supporting multiple dental practices is preferred. Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who goes beyond simply processing claims. The successful candidate will be able to evaluate the entire billing cycle, identify where revenue is being lost or delayed, and implement solutions that improve collections and accountability. The individual should be comfortable working directly with practice owners, doctors, managers, and billing teams and providing clear recommendations based on measurable results.
