Overview Ascend Counseling and Therapy is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Behavioral Health Practice Billing Coordinator to support our growing outpatient mental health practice. This is a part-time position with the opportunity to grow as the practice expands. The ideal candidate will have experience with behavioral health insurance billing and be comfortable managing claims from submission through payment. We are especially interested in someone who understands the unique billing and credentialing needs of an outpatient mental health practice and can help establish efficient, organized billing processes as we grow. Duties Manage behavioral health insurance claims from initial submission through payment. Review claims for accuracy and submit claims to commercial insurance and Medicaid payers. Monitor outstanding claims and follow up on unpaid, rejected, or denied claims. Investigate and resolve claim denials, rejections, and reimbursement discrepancies. Post and reconcile insurance payments, ERAs, and EOBs. Verify insurance benefits and eligibility as needed. Communicate with insurance companies regarding claims, authorizations, reimbursement, and provider enrollment issues. Maintain accurate and organized billing records and payer information. Assist with provider credentialing, enrollment, recredentialing, and payer maintenance. Maintain and update CAQH profiles and assist with Availity and other insurance payer portals. Assist with EFT/ERA enrollment and payer setup. Support the onboarding and credentialing of additional clinicians as the practice grows. Communicate billing concerns or trends to the practice owner and help identify outstanding revenue or recurring claim issues. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and applicable healthcare regulations. Requirements Previous medical billing experience required; behavioral health or outpatient mental health billing experience strongly preferred. Experience with commercial insurance claims and payer portals. Experience with Medicaid billing and/or provider enrollment strongly preferred. Knowledge of behavioral health CPT codes, including psychotherapy and diagnostic evaluation services. Understanding of ICD-10 coding and behavioral health claims requirements. Experience working with EHR and practice-management systems. Experience with TherapyNotes is a plus. Credentialing experience, including CAQH, Availity, commercial insurance enrollment, and Medicaid enrollment, is strongly preferred. Experience handling claim denials, appeals, payment posting, EOBs, and ERAs. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and follow claims through resolution. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle protected health information. Position Details Part-time, approximately 5-10 hours per week initially , with the potential for additional hours as the practice grows. This position offers a flexible schedule and is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently while helping develop the billing operations of a growing behavioral health practice.

Pay:

$23.98 - $25.86 per hour Expected hours: 5.0 - 15.0 per week
