Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Billing Clerk to join our dynamic finance team. Duties Process and verify invoices using various billing software and accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, and specialized healthcare billing platforms. Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy, including entering billing information into spreadsheets and financial software. Manage accounts receivable by tracking payments, following up on overdue accounts, and reconciling discrepancies through detailed account analysis. Support collections account management by communicating with clients via phone or email to resolve billing issues and negotiate payment arrangements. Assist in preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports adhering to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance standards. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper coding of medical procedures using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems for healthcare billing. Provide excellent customer service by responding promptly to client inquiries regarding billing status or account details while maintaining professional phone etiquette. Experience Previous experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within public accounting or healthcare revenue cycle management. Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms is highly desirable. Strong understanding of GAAP principles, financial concepts, and technical accounting practices including double entry bookkeeping and journal entries. Demonstrated proficiency in Excel data analysis using formulas, spreadsheets management, and creating reports for financial review purposes. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, and medical billing processes is a plus. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform account reconciliation and identify discrepancies efficiently. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate data entry and account analysis tasks. Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration; experience in negotiation or telemarketing is advantageous.
