Part-Time Billing Assistant Horizon Neuropsychological Services Littleton, CO Job Details Part-time $20 - $22 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Customer communication Interpersonal skills HIPAA Medical administrative support Attention to detail Organizational skills Full Job Description Overview Horizon Neuropsychological Services is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Billing Assistant to support the billing department with claims follow-up, payment posting, appeals, collections, and patient account management. This position is expected to be approximately 20 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing up to 30 hours per week in the future as needed. This position works closely with the Billing and Credentialing Specialist to ensure claims are processed accurately, outstanding balances are resolved, and patients receive exceptional customer service. This role is expected to be in-person 1 day per week and remote for the remainder of the week. Responsibilities Review and reconcile Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs). Follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims. Prepare, submit, and track insurance appeals and reconsideration requests. Contact insurance carriers to verify claim status, benefits, authorizations, referrals, and payment issues. Work accounts receivable (A/R) reports and assist with collection efforts. Contact patients regarding outstanding balances and establish payment arrangements when appropriate. Monitor aging accounts and assist in resolving billing discrepancies. Document all follow-up activities and communications within the practice management system. Maintain compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations. Perform other billing and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum of 1-2 years of medical billing experience preferred. Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, and managed care plans. Knowledge of payment posting, claims processing, insurance follow-up, appeals, and collections. Ability to understand and interpret EOBs, ERAs, and payer correspondence. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating with the billing team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic billing systems. The ideal candidate is proactive, organized, and comfortable communicating with both patients and insurance companies. They can manage multiple priorities, follow through on outstanding claims, assist with payment arrangements, and help maintain the overall efficiency of the billing department while supporting the Billing and Credentialing Specialist.
Pay:
$20.00 - $22.00 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
