Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Part-Time Medical Coding and Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records, processing insurance claims, and ensuring timely billing for services. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycle management while maintaining compliance with medical coding guidelines and health insurance policies. This position offers flexible hours and a dynamic work environment where your skills directly impact patient care and organizational efficiency. Duties Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT, and DRG codes in accordance with current medical coding guidelines. Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Process health insurance claims efficiently, including third-party billing, to facilitate timely reimbursements. Verify patient information, insurance benefits, authorizations and medical documentation to support accurate billing procedures, PRIOR to and after patients are seen in office. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and ensure proper coding for inpatient services. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health insurance policies, medical terminology, and coding regulations to ensure compliance. Assist in answering phone calls, answering questions and documentation from patients. Qualifications Proven experience in medical office settings with familiarity in medical billing and coding processes. Strong understanding of
ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT
coding, DRG classifications, and medical terminology. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and billing software platforms. Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing, and revenue cycle management. Ability to interpret medical records accurately while adhering to coding guidelines for inpatient and outpatient services. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently in a part-time capacity. Prior experience in medical collection efforts or insurance claim follow-up is a plus.Pay:
$20.11 - $25.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 18.0 per weekWork Location:
