In this pivotal role, you will oversee the entire billing process, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and implement best practices to optimize cash flow and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting principles, medical billing, governmental and non-profit accounting, and be proficient with various financial software tools. Your leadership will drive continuous improvement in billing procedures while maintaining adherence to industry standards such as GAAP and SOX compliance. Responsibilities Oversee the end-to-end billing process across multiple departments, ensuring timely and accurate invoicing for services rendered. Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, including account reconciliation and journal entries. Ensure compliance with financial regulations, including SOX controls and GAAP standards, through regular audits and process reviews. Coordinate with medical billing teams on CPT coding, ICD-10 coding standards, medical terminology, and revenue cycle management to optimize collections. Lead negotiations with clients or vendors regarding billing disputes or payment terms while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Conduct analysis of financial data to identify discrepancies or trends that impact revenue or operational efficiency. Supervise a team of billing specialists by providing training on technical accounting concepts, data entry accuracy, phone etiquette, and professional communication skills. Requirements Proven experience in public accounting or corporate accounting environments with a focus on medical billing or healthcare finance. Strong understanding of
GAAP, SOX
compliance requirements, governmental accounting standards, and non-profit accounting practices. Proficiency in multiple accounting software platforms including QuickBooks, Sage, PeopleSoft, and specialized medical billing systems. Knowledge of CPT coding procedures (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10 coding standards for medical claims processing. Excellent analysis skills with the ability to perform account analysis, account reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping accurately. Familiarity with revenue cycle management processes within healthcare or financial services industries. Exceptional organizational skills with experience in data entry involving high-volume transactions such as 10 key typing and bookkeeping tasks. Strong negotiation abilities combined with effective phone etiquette for client interactions or dispute resolution. Ability to interpret complex financial concepts related to credits & debits, debits & credits journal entries, and technical accounting principles.
