Position Summary:
The Collections Clerk is responsible for managing customer accounts and ensuring timely payments. This role is crucial for maintaining positive customer relationships while also protecting the company's financial assets. The ideal candidate will be a firm but fair communicator who can assist customers in bringing their accounts current and finding workable payment solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Proactively contact customers with past-due accounts to arrange for payment. Receive and process payments accurately, including cash, check, and card transactions. Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions regarding accounts, balances, and payment options. Establish and manage payment plans and arrangements that are mutually beneficial for the customer and the company. Maintain detailed and accurate records of all customer interactions and collection activities. Identify and escalate accounts requiring further action according to company policy. Work collaboratively with other team members to resolve customer account issues. Uphold a high level of professionalism and confidentiality in all communications.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in collections or customer service in an office environment is required. Experience in the automotive or consumer finance industry is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm and professional in difficult situations. Proficient with computers, including MS Office and the ability to learn new software quickly. Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening.
