Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Billing Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for managing the entire billing process, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, and maintaining precise financial records. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Generate and process customer invoices. Verify rates, fuel surcharges, detention, layover, stop-off, lumper, and other accessorial charges. Review load documentation to ensure billing accuracy and completeness. Identify and resolve billing discrepancies before invoicing. Communicate with customers regarding invoice questions and billing adjustments. Work with operations teams to obtain missing paperwork and billing support documents. Monitor unbilled loads and ensure timely revenue recognition. Process billing corrections, credit memos, and rebills as necessary. Maintain customer billing requirements and special invoicing procedures. Assist with month-end billing close and reporting. Support accounts receivable efforts by researching customer disputes and deductions. Maintain organized records of invoices, supporting documents, and customer communications. Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and reduce revenue leakage. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred. Previous transportation, logistics, accounting, or billing experience preferred. Knowledge of trucking industry billing practices and accessorial charges preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Experience with transportation management systems (McLeod experience preferred). Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Effective communication skills to collaborate across departments and ensure clarity in financial reporting. $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
