Job Description

Performs billing and referral functions for an acute hospital. Acknowledges and responds appropriately to the hospital's customer relations philosophy, including the five fundamentals of the AIDET program.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES
Independently manage assigned Revenue Cycle Management responsibilities, work accounts receivable queues, Review AR aging reports and actively pursue outstanding reimbursement, contact insurance payers to resolve unpaid, denied, rejected or underpaid claims, identify claim issues and complete necessary corrections, appeals, or follow-up, post patient payments, review claims for accuracy prior to submissions, maintain detailed billing and follow-up documentation, communicate independently with payers, patients, and internal departments, Performs other related duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements - Experience with Acute Care facility billing preferred, Strong experience with AR follow-up and medical collections, Experience personally contacting insurance companies regarding outstanding claims, Experience resolving denials, rejections, unpaid claims, and underpayments, Experience with payment posting and account reconciliation, Working knowledge of CPT codes and modifiers, Proficiency with EMR/EHR and medical billing systems, Thrive/Evident experience preferred, Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing workflows, Ability to independently prioritize and manage a daily workload. Minimum Education - High School graduate or equivalent. Typing skills - 40 words per minute minimum, ten-key skills. Operate calculator, photocopier, fax machine, multiple line phones. Computer skills necessary. Physical Demands - Must be able to work eight hours, sit for extended periods of times (2 hours); bend, stoop, squat, reach above shoulder level; lift supplies weighing less than 35 lbs. Working Conditions - Must be flexible. Regularly scheduled hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Exposure to sick patients, equipment and staff noise and interruption. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude. Understand and honor requirements of patient confidentiality.
