Day Shift Help for . The Home Health Biller is responsible for accurately and efficiently preparing, submitting, tracking, and following up on insurance claims for home health services. This position ensures claims are submitted in accordance with payer requirements and applicable Medicare, Medicaid, and insurance regulations while maximizing timely reimbursement and minimizing denials and outstanding accounts receivable. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit electronic and paper claims for home health services to Medicare, Medicaid, managed care organizations, commercial insurance companies, and other payers.
Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, authorization requirements, and payer information.
Review billing documentation, physician orders, plan of care, visit information, and other records for completeness and accuracy.
Ensure claims are coded and billed appropriately according to payer guidelines and applicable billing regulations.
Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims.
Research and resolve billing errors, claim edits, and payment discrepancies.
Prepare and submit corrected claims, reconsiderations, and appeals when necessary.
Post insurance payments, adjustments, denials, and patient responsibility accurately.
Reconcile accounts receivable and assist with reducing outstanding balances.
Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
Communicate with insurance companies, Medicare/Medicaid representatives, patients, clinicians, and internal staff regarding billing issues.
Identify recurring denial trends and recommend solutions to improve the revenue cycle.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA requirements.
Stay current with changes in Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payer requirements, billing regulations, and home health reimbursement policies.
Perform other billing and accounts receivable duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in medical billing, healthcare administration, or a related field preferred.
