Laredo, TX Starting Pay:
$17.00 per hour About Us The Skin Clinics of Texas is a growing dermatology practice committed to delivering exceptional patient care while maintaining an efficient and accurate revenue cycle. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist to join our team and support insurance billing, accounts receivable, and denial management. Position Summary Previous medical billing experience is required . We are looking for someone who is technologically proficient, organized, dependable, able to multitask, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This is a part-time, in-office position, approximately 20-30 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Starting pay is $17.00 per hour. After the training period, we may consider additional hours and/or a pay increase based on performance, demonstrated skills, reliability, and business needs. However, additional hours and any pay increase are not guaranteed. Responsibilities Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and Accounts Receivable (A/R). Investigate and resolve claim denials and payment discrepancies. Contact insurance companies regarding claim status and billing issues. Review EOBs and ERAs and accurately post insurance payments, adjustments, and patient responsibility to patient accounts. Assist with account reconciliation and ensure patient accounts are accurately updated. Document payer communications and claim activity. Use Microsoft Excel to track claims, reports, and billing information. Navigate insurance payer portals and clearinghouse systems. Adapt quickly to EHR and practice management systems. Assist with other billing and revenue cycle projects as needed. Required Qualifications 1-2 years of medical billing experience
REQUIRED.
Experience with insurance claims, denials, payment posting, and A/R. Strong understanding of medical billing terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and insurance processes. Technologically proficient with the ability to learn and adapt to new systems. Proficient with Microsoft Excel and computer-based systems. Ability to navigate insurance portals and multiple software platforms. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently, multitask, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience using Modernizing Medicine (ModMed). Experience with Availity payer portal. Experience using TriZetto or other clearinghouse software. Experience with Medicare and commercial insurance plans is a plus, particularly with Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, WellMed, UnitedHealthcare, Curative, TRICARE, and CHAMPVA.
