Position Summary The Audiology Billing Specialist manages insurance claims and patient accounts. This role is responsible for accurate charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, denial follow-up, prior-authorization coordination, patient balance resolution, and compliance with payer and billing requirements. The ideal candidate understands the unique billing needs of audiology practices, including diagnostic hearing evaluations, balance testing, hearing aid fittings, repairs, supplies, warranties, and insurance benefit verification. They combine strong attention to detail with excellent communication skills to help ensure timely reimbursement and a positive patient financial experience.
Responsibilities:
Insurance Verify patient eligibility, hearing-aid benefits Insurance eligibility, hearing aid benefits Communicate with patients regarding benefits as needed Explain deductible and coinsurance amounts and coverage limitations to our patients Enter insurance payments into the system Determine patient balance, if applicable, and mail statements to the patient. Communicate with YCS any insurance decisions requiring appeal, if applicable, e.g. payment does not match quote, original claim was incorrect, insurance denial even when benefits were noted to be available, etc. HCFA status Monthly, check Sycle HCFA status and open invoice reports Bill patients outstanding payments due Professional Conduct A high degree of attendance is required. Excessive tardiness or absenteeism will not be tolerated Professional conduct and positive behavior must be exhibited at all times with co-workers, management, vendors and patients Good grooming and professional appearance must be maintained at all times Maintain confidentially per HIPPA guidelines Patient Scheduling / Communication By the 15 of each month schedule the following: 6-month checks Annual evaluations (<3 years since HA purchase, 3+ years since HA purchase) Lyric renewal/Annual evaluation Hearing aid warranty expiration notices Birthday cards on time Patient referrals thank-you cards as needed TNS survey calls weekly as needed Respond to "chat" patients within 2 hours of notification Shipping and Receiving Process all outgoing shipping daily using approved shipping methods and vendors Note shipment in Sycle

Scan folder - scan and empty daily Shred folder - shred and empty folder daily Send reports to patients and physicians as requested Assist Audiologists as needed All other duties apparent or assigned Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree, medical billing certification, or related training preferred. Two or more years of medical billing, insurance claims, accounts receivable, or revenue-cycle experience preferred. Experience in audiology, otolaryngology/ENT, hearing care, durable medical equipment, or another specialty healthcare setting strongly preferred. - Working knowledge of insurance verification, claim submission, denial management, payment posting, patient collections, and accounts-receivable follow-up. Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, payer portals, electronic remittance advice, and electronic claim submission. Proficiency with electronic health records, practice-management systems, billing software, spreadsheets, and standard office applications. Strong numerical accuracy, organizational ability, follow-through, and attention to detail. Clear, empathetic, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly when discussing patient financial responsibility.
