Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Billing & Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical records, managing billing processes, and ensuring seamless revenue cycle management. Your expertise will help optimize reimbursement, maintain compliance with medical coding guidelines, and support efficient insurance claim processing. Responsibilities Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT, and DRG codes in accordance with current medical coding guidelines. Ensure accurate electronic health record (EHR) management for billing and coding purposes using specialized billing software and EMR systems. Process health insurance claims efficiently, verifying coverage details and submitting third-party billing claims to maximize reimbursements. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and resolve coding discrepancies or billing issues promptly. Maintain comprehensive documentation of medical records, coding decisions, and billing activities in compliance with regulatory standards. Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding regulations, and insurance policies affecting revenue cycle management. Assist in medical collection efforts by following up on unpaid or denied claims to improve cash flow. Experience Proven experience in medical office settings with a strong understanding of medical terminology, records management, and billing procedures. Familiarity with
ICD-9/ICD-10
coding systems, CPT coding, DRG classifications, and inpatient service coding for accurate reimbursement. Hands-on experience using electronic health record (EHR) or electronic medical record (EMR) systems and billing software platforms. Knowledge of health insurance claim processing, third-party billing practices, and revenue cycle management strategies. Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation while adhering to coding guidelines. Prior experience working with health insurance companies and understanding of health insurance policies is highly desirable.
