About Parker & McConkie Parker & McConkie is a boutique litigation firm focused on representing individuals in personal injury matters. We take pride in providing excellent client service while maintaining high standards for organization, accuracy, and case preparation. We are looking for a Medical Billing & Balance Specialist to join our personal injury team. This position plays an important role in helping our clients and legal team ensure that medical bills, health insurance processing, provider balances, and settlement-related medical issues are handled accurately and efficiently from beginning to end. About the Position The Medical Billing & Balance Specialist will take ownership of the medical billing and balance portion of personal injury cases . You will work with medical providers, health insurance companies, clients, and our legal team to ensure that bills are properly processed, insurance payments and adjustments are accounted for, and accurate final balances are obtained before a case settles. This is an excellent position for someone who is highly organized, task-oriented, persistent, detail-focused, and enjoys getting things checked off a list. Key Responsibilities Track and manage medical bills for personal injury clients from the beginning of treatment through settlement. Obtain, organize, and review medical bills and billing statements. Communicate with medical providers regarding billing, insurance processing, outstanding balances, and account status. Work with health insurance companies to determine whether medical bills have been processed correctly. Track health insurance payments, adjustments, denials, liens, subrogation claims, and outstanding balances. Follow up with providers and insurance companies regarding unpaid or incorrectly processed bills. Confirm final balances and obtain written balance information when appropriate. Identify billing discrepancies, duplicate charges, incorrect balances, or other issues requiring follow-up. Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical billing and balance information in the firm's case management system. Communicate with clients regarding the status of their medical bills and insurance processing when appropriate. Coordinate with legal team to ensure medical billing issues are addressed before settlement. Assist with obtaining reductions or resolving outstanding medical balances when appropriate. Ensure that all medical billing and balance tasks are completed before settlement distributions are finalized. Maintain detailed notes and documentation of communications, balances, payments, and outstanding issues. Consistently follow up on outstanding tasks until they are resolved. Is highly organized and comfortable managing numerous accounts and deadlines. Has excellent attention to detail. Is persistent and comfortable making frequent phone calls and follow-up communications. Can communicate professionally and confidently with medical offices and insurance companies. Is comfortable working independently while also being part of a team. Can identify a problem and take the initiative to figure out how to resolve it. Understands that small billing errors can have a significant impact on a client's settlement. Takes pride in accurate, thorough work. Is comfortable working in a fast-paced legal environment. Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following is strongly preferred : Medical billing Medical insurance processing Health insurance claims Medical accounts receivable Insurance verification Medical collections Personal injury law Medical lien or subrogation resolution Law firm or legal case management Personal injury experience is helpful but not required. Strong candidates with medical billing or health insurance experience will be considered. What Success Looks Like A successful person in this position will become the person our team can rely on to answer: "Are all of this client's medical bills and balances accounted for, and are we ready to settle this case?" You will be responsible for making sure the answer is yes . That means knowing what has been billed, what insurance has paid, what remains outstanding, what providers are claiming, what needs to be corrected, and what still needs to be resolved.
