Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Billing Assistant to join our growing outpatient physical therapy practice! This position plays a vital role in supporting the Billing Manager by ensuring claims are processed accurately, insurance payments are posted correctly, and outstanding accounts are resolved promptly. Primary Responsibilities Assist with submitting and tracking insurance claims Post insurance payments and patient payments accurately Research and resolve claim denials and underpayments Follow up on outstanding insurance balances Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed Submit insurance authorizations when needed Review claims for accuracy before submission when needed Communicate regularly with insurance companies regarding claims status and payment issues Maintain accurate patient billing records and assist in sending monthly statements Answer patient questions regarding billing and insurance Assist with payment plans and patient account resolution Ensure credentialing is complete in a timely manner Respond to all records requests and ledger inquiries Other administrative and billing duties as assigned Preferred Skills Previous medical billing experience preferred but not required Experience with physical therapy billing is a plus Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and insurance terminology Experience working with commercial insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, Worker's Comp, and law firms Knowledge of electronic medical record (EMR) systems Experience posting and interpreting electronic remittance advice (ERAs) and explanation of benefits (EOBs) What We're Looking For The successful candidate is someone who: Has a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and challenges oneself Is dependable and takes ownership of their work Enjoys solving billing buzzles and tracking down answers Communicates professionally with patients and insurance reps Works well as part of a small team while also managing responsibilities independently Desires to grow and contribute to the success of the clinic Eagerly takes tasks to completion If you enjoy solving problems, are great at prioritization, and want to make a meaningful impact behind the scenes, we would love to hear from you!
Pay:
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour
