Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, processing payments, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires an understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures to effectively support our medical office operations. Duties Process and submit medical claims using appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes. Review patient records to ensure accuracy in billing and coding. Post and reconcile insurance and patient payments, including electronic remittance advice (ERA) and manual payment entries. Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid claims and conducting medical collections. Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies in billing or payment information. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of EMR/EHR systems for efficient data entry, payment posting, and claim management. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and payer guidelines related to medical billing and collections. Provide support in managing medical records while adhering to confidentiality and HIPAA standards. Stay updated on changes in medical coding practices, payer rules, and insurance regulations. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing, payment posting, and coding, with familiarity in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10. Strong understanding of medical terminology and healthcare billing processes. Previous experience in a medical office or billing company setting is highly desirable. Proficiency in using EMR/EHR systems and billing software for claims management and payment posting. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational and reconciliation skills. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, insurance companies, and healthcare providers. Knowledge of medical collection processes and insurance follow-up procedures is a plus.
