Job Description

William A. Hazel, Inc., a total site development contractor for over 60 years, is looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our team. Spanish/English bilingual ability is a strong requirement. The ideal candidate has prior experience in payroll, accounting, or clerical work, strong organizational skills, and a customer-service mindset when working with our field crews and office staff. This role is responsible for processing weekly payroll, verifying timekeeping information, maintaining accurate records, and resolving payroll discrepancies in accordance with company policy and applicable wage regulations. Essential Functions Analyze weekly payroll for field crews, tracking time by crew. Review and edit timekeeping entries to ensure accuracy and completeness. Maintain payroll records and perform file maintenance in the payroll system. Track and reconcile employees' leave balances. Maintain child support and garnishment records; process related payments. Maintain certified payroll records and prevailing wage documentation as required. Adhere to the weekly payroll processing cutoff and deadlines. Support additional payroll and administrative tasks as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; one or more years of related payroll, accounting, or clerical experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be bilingual (English/Spanish). Experience with payroll or accounting software required (e.g., ADP / Viewpoint Vista, etc.); strong Excel skills preferred. Certified payroll / Davis-Bacon prevailing wage experience a plus. Strong numerical accuracy, including comfort with rates, ratios, percentages, and basic calculations. Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to employees. Ability to read, interpret, and apply written instructions, correspondence, and procedures independently. Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) is a plus but not required. Work Environment This position is performed indoors in a climate-controlled office environment with a moderate noise level. $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
