Billing Coordinator Job Summary:
Our busy pediatric dental office is seeking a dedicated Billing Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be the first point of contact for our families, ensuring a smooth and positive experience from the first phone call to the final checkout. You will play a critical role in managing the administrative lifecycle of patient care, specifically focusing on the intersection of patient relations and insurance claim accuracy.
Key Duties:
Communication:
Answering patient phone calls with a warm and professional demeanor, scheduling appointments, and addressing family inquiries.
Insurance Verification:
Performing comprehensive verification of insurance benefits for new and existing patients prior to their appointments.
Plan Management:
Accurately attaching insurance plans to patient accounts and updating coverage details to ensure precise billing.
Claims & Reimbursement:
Managing the full claims lifecycle, including preparing and submitting dental claims, tracking denials, and aggressively researching outstanding aging claims.
Payment Posting & Reconciliation:
Accurately interpreting and posting insurance payments, EOBs, and EFTs to patient ledgers, ensuring strict balancing between bank deposits and practice management software.
Data Integrity:
Ensuring all digital paperwork, medical histories, and patient updates are completed thoroughly and entered correctly into our system.
Financial Coordination:
Calculating patient portions, explaining benefits to parents, and collecting outstanding balances and co-pays at the time of service, and accurately posting all payments to patient ledgers.
The Ideal Candidate:
Possesses a warm, positive, and outgoing attitude.
Insurance Savvy:
Understands dental insurance terminology (deductibles, maximums, and co-insurance) and feels comfortable navigating insurance portals. Demonstrates strong organizational skills with high attention to detail. Has excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Is able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Experience & Qualifications:
Previous experience in a dental office setting is preferred. Experience with billing and insurance verification and eligibility systems is highly valued. Proficiency in Open Dental and NexHealth is not required, but considered a major plus!
