Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with coding standards such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10 classifications. Review medical records and documentation to verify proper coding for diagnoses, procedures, and services provided. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims promptly by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies or issues. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim statuses, and collections within secure medical records systems. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation and ensure accurate coding for optimal reimbursement. Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding guidelines, and payer policies to ensure ongoing compliance. Assist in resolving patient billing inquiries with professionalism and clarity while explaining insurance benefits and payment options. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding practices (CPT, ICD-9/10), and insurance claim processes. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems along with excellent knowledge of medical records management. Ability to accurately interpret medical documentation to assign appropriate codes for billing purposes. Strong communication skills for effective interaction with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare staff. Knowledge of medical collection procedures and best practices for revenue cycle management. Prior experience working in a fast-paced billing office environment is highly preferred.
