Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Data Entry Specialist for a contract opportunity supporting high-priority operational projects in El Cajon, CA. This on-site role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with structured data, Excel spreadsheets, cloud-based systems, and accuracy-driven workflows. The Data Entry Specialist will support a life-safety systems environment by exporting device inventory data, mapping information into Excel pricing models, assisting with estimate preparation, and helping with a platform migration project. - Export device inventory counts from a cloud-based dashboard and accurately transfer data into Excel pricing spreadsheets.
- Populate inspection frequency, system type details, contact information, and related estimate data.
- Use basic Excel formulas, including COUNTIF-level functions, to validate device totals and support accurate pricing outputs.
- Review spreadsheet results for reasonableness, including inspection margin ranges, and flag inaccurate or unusual cost-to-price relationships.
- Assist with platform migration tasks, including data export, reformatting, quality control, and import into a new standardized system.
- Communicate data inconsistencies, workflow questions, and project updates to internal stakeholders. Compensation and Benefits
Compensation:
$23 to $25/hour.Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.Worksite:
Fully on-site in El Cajon, CA.Engagement:
1 to 2 month contract assignment with possible extension.Interview Process:
Single in-person interview focused on fit, communication, and practical judgment. Required Qualifications and Skills- Export, map, and validate device inventory data from cloud-based systems into Excel pricing models.
- Prepare Excel-based inspection estimate data using structured templates and basic formulas.
- Support data migration activities, including exporting, reformatting, importing, and checking data for accuracy.
- Review estimate outputs and identify data inconsistencies, margin concerns, or information that does not appear correct.
- 1 to 2 years of administrative, data entry, order processing, or related experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including comfort using basic formulas such as COUNTIF.
- Ability to work accurately in structured spreadsheets and follow established workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical judgment to identify errors or unusual data outputs.
- Basic understanding of contract concepts such as duration, escalation terms, and recurring service details.
- Comfortable navigating cloud-based dashboards and learning standardized data systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work fully on-site and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment. Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting pricing, estimating, service contracts, or inspection-related documentation.
- Experience with data cleanup, data migration, or system conversion projects.
- Familiarity with fire alarm, life-safety, facilities services, or field service operations.
- Previous experience working with device counts, inventory records, customer records, or recurring service data.
