Required Experience and Skills:
- Working toward or completion of an Associate or Bachelor's degree in a Business, Communications, Computer, or Library Science related field or 2+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Extraordinary attention to detail and ability to perform at a high level of accuracy and quality
- Ability to organize and maintain data or information
- Experience with database entry and information retrieval
- Experience working with Electronic Document Management Systems
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Point
- Technical writing experience
- Proven analytical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and ability to apply key concepts
Responsibilities:
The Document Management Assistant is a member of a Center of Excellence team that provides document support for Merck Elkton functional areas and site personnel. The following are key responsibilities within this position:
- Handle paper and electronic documents according to established procedures, this includes editing, routing, publishing, scanning, reviewing, cataloging, classifying, and storing documents
- Execute standard documentation and information practices within Merck-supported Electronic Document Management Systems and within a physical document repository
- Apply records retention policies, practices and procedures to management of site published documents
- Accurately enter data and coordinate and perform various tasks in site document management systems
- Provide documentation-related reports and metrics
- Manage document pickup and delivery throughout the site
