Do you want to help people see better, look better, and feel better? The Verification Specialist will be responsible for obtaining insurance authorizations and verification of eligibility for all clinic appointments through using interface systems, placing calls to various insurances and/or physician offices, and utilizing internet applications for vision and medical referrals/authorizations.

Our team of ophthalmologists, optometrists, and professional support staff handle all aspects of eye/vision care, from general exams to complex surgeries. WHAT YOU'LL DO
Generate appointment reports daily and determine which appointments require authorization and/or referral Access interface programs and place telephone calls for benefit and eligibility information Document patient authorizations and benefit data in the practice management system Contact primary care physicians for referrals and/or authorization Identify and obtain proper benefits for all patients on the schedule Contact patients for discrepancies regarding insurance policy identifications Facilitate authorizations and imaging appointments for outpatient referrals Advise coordinator of problems or trends relating to authorizations and/or referrals Adhere to HIPAA regulations concerning patient privacy and confidentiality

Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of electronic data entry Ability to use computers, calculators, and programs such as Microsoft Excel, internet, e-mail, and EHR Knowledge of recordkeeping and basic accounting Ability to manage stress and remain composed in a fast-paced, high-stress environment Ability to hear in person and over the phone in various settings Knowledge of NextGen (preferred) Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma/GED Six months to one year of related experience and/or technical school training Bachelor's degree (preferred) One to two years of related experience and/or training (preferred)
