Job Description

Preveon Specialty Pharmacy, located in San Bernardino, CA, strives to promote and achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes through collaborative Disease Therapy Management. Our goals include successfully improving the quality of life for each Patient, providing the highest standard of clinical services, reducing overall healthcare costs, and fostering relationships between Patients, Providers, and Payers. Seeking a highly motivated, team-oriented, experienced and skilled Intake Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for communicating with patients and referral sources, handling phone calls, and providing exceptional customer service. This is a fast-paced and dynamic role that requires the ability to multitask, work well under pressure, and maintain a calm and professional demeanor. If you have experience in a pharmacy setting and are looking for a new challenge, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Responsibilities of the Intake Specialist include the following: 1. Intake information from referral sources and patients in a professional, knowledgeable, and courteous manner 2. Route patient referrals to the appropriate department or individual(s) in the pharmacy 3. Receive calls from new patients and referral sources and document all communications 4. Verify insurance coverage and bill for products to determine coverage 5. Prepare and secure medical necessity documents 6. Ensure proper billing with insurance companies, contracts, other third-party payers and patients for all products and services delivered 7. Maintain accurate billing records 8. Create drug appropriateness cases for pharmacists to review for new referrals 9. Create and follow up on contact cases for missing documentation 10. Create authorization cases when it is determined that medication is not covered by insurance 11. Complete clinical assessments for new patients with first-time medications or current patients with medication changes 12. Report any misconduct, suspicious or unethical activities to the Compliance Officer 13. Represent the pharmacy in a professional and courteous manner in all interactions with patients 14. Assist with the resolution of patient complaints and concerns in a professional manner 15. Document and report patient concerns and complaints to the PIC 16. Report incidents in compliance with pharmacy policy 17. Participate in surveys conducted by authorized inspection agencies 18. Participate in the pharmacy's Quality Management Program as requested by the Compliance Officer 19. Participate in pharmacy committees when requested 20. Participate in in-service education programs provided by the pharmacy 21. Assist in the implementation of policies and procedures within the pharmacy 22. Maintain confidentiality of work-related issues 23. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor Minimum Qualifications 1. Organizational skills sufficient to maintain consistently accurate records 2. Ability to evaluate options and make efficient decisions 3. Computer skills that include proficiency with spreadsheets, use of the internet, and email 4. High School Diploma or equivalent Physical Requirements The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions in this job description: 1. The employee will spend prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer 2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 40 lbs.
